Her practice has focused as Rector; Project Coordinator; Teacher; University Professor; Pedagogical Advisor of Public and Private Educational Institutions; Municipal Education office director; Municipal Education secretary where she has participated in the Promotion, integration and inclusion of the Municipality’s educational system, of special populations (with limitations and exceptional talents, adults, peasants and rural population who are diversely skilled), in vulnerable social situations; Promote the link between education and the contexts of economic, social and cultural productivity in the Municipality; Promote the articulation between the formal educational system of the Municipality and middle education, with higher education, to strengthen the quality of education; Design and coordinate strategies for access and permanence, which guarantee the expansion and sustainability of educational coverage in the departmental and private educational institutions of the municipality; Advance strategies and stimulus programs for the access of the insistent school-age population to the educational system; Design, coordinate and execute strategies and programs for the access of students of municipal educational institutions to higher education; Articulate programs and projects of educational physical infrastructure and school facilities, with the department, the nation and the private sector, to improve educational quality levels; Promote the generation of diverse and appropriate integrated knowledge environments, through pedagogical research projects, to strengthen learning, promote the realization, adaptation and implementation of learning resources, educational media and relevant strategies and methodologies for knowledge and learning experiences; Coordinate and execute the policies, guidelines and projects aimed at improving the quality of education; Promote the execution of learning processes and the development of their diversity, timeliness and relevance, taking into account the types of target population, in the Municipality; To direct and coordinate the activities of attention to the citizen and to guide concerning education in the Municipality; Support and strengthen the Institutional Educational Projects of the Departmental Educational Institutions, with the updating and articulation of projects in educational quality; Perform the other functions assigned by the competent authority and that are in accordance with the nature of the dependency.

Andrea has among her main achievements as Secretary of Education of Cajicá the Positioning of 5 official institutions in A and another in A + according to the results of Saber Tests; Recognition to various rectors, coordinators, teachers and students in the incentive plan for Teachers who leave their mark (Cundinamarca Governorate); Improvement in the infrastructure and endowment of the official institutions of the municipality; Consolidation of various educational alliances for the promotion of quality in the official institutions of the municipality; Alliances with institutions of higher education in the Sabana Centro region to promote access to postgraduate higher education for teachers and directors of the municipality and to undergraduate education for outstanding young people in the municipality; Management of the Administration of the municipality aimed at strengthening culture, sports and education, which earned the Lord Mayor the winner of the recognition as Mayor educator of Cundinamarca, for three continuous years; National recognition to the municipality of Cajicá for its notable progress in terms of quality and management of educational institutions.
